Step 2:
Onboarding Tasks
Please complete the following onboarding tasks before our kickoff call on Thursday, Feb. 16.
Our WIZDM community is currently in Beta and is not yet available to the public. But as part of this internship, you get exclusive access to join the platform early.
You should have already received an email invitation to join the platform. (If you didn't get it, email internship@wizdm.org)
Once you have logged in, please do the following:
- Set up your profile (Make sure to upload a picture!)
- Download the app (Search for “WIZDM”)
Please note that we are still in Beta and our developers are still working on the functionality and some of the visuals still need to be updated. There are still some bugs, and part of your role as a WIZDM intern is going to be to use the platform and report any bugs or ideas on how we can improve it. If you have any bugs or ideas to share, email internship@wizdm.org.
Now that your WIZDM account is set up, introduce yourself to your fellow interns and start engaging with other students.
Here's how:
1. Post a brief video in the WIZDM Internship group, introducing yourself
- Click on "Groups" in the main menu, and open the WIZDM Internship group
- Introduce yourself to the group by recording a video of yourself.
- You can include where you're from, where you go to school, what you're studying, what your "superpower" is, why you're excited to be part of this internship, a Jewish value that you find meaningful, or something else you find meaningful or interesting.
- End with a question to stimulate engagement (such as: "What's your favorite Jewish holiday, and why?")
- You can use your phone to record the video, or even record directly in the app.
- "Like" and comment on their video so they know you watched it!
- Remember - we're here to build a community and grow our network. The only way to make new friends and connections is by reaching out and talking to people!
3. Connect with other students on the platform
- To connect with all the interns, open the WIZDM Internship group and click on the "Members" section.
- If it shows that a member only joined WIZDM in the past week, this means that they are part of your cohort.
- Send them a request to connect, and include a personal note with a bit about yourself and why you're excited to be part of WIZDM
- If you see a member of this group who joined WIZDM a few months ago, this means they were part of a previous cohort. You can still send them a request to connect as well - remember, it's all about growing your network! Look at their profile and find if they have anything in common with you. If so, mention it when you send your request to connect!
- You can find more students to connect with on the general Members page. On the right side, you can search for members at your campus, in the same state as you, or with common interests.
We'll be using Gusto, our payroll software, to pay you for your work during this internship.
In the next week or so, you will receive an email with instructions about how to set up your Gusto account. Please set up your Gusto account as soon as possible so that you'll be able to get paid.
If you haven't received this email, let us know at internship@wizdm.org
For this internship, you'll be paid according to how many hours you worked.
To track your hours, we'll be using a system on Monday.com
We will soon send you an email with instructions about how to us Monday.com. Please look out for this email in your inbox and review it as soon as you get a chance.
